Connect Lumen to the AI you already use.
Lumen gives your AI app live access to the financial accounts you connect, so it can answer questions about your real balances, spending and bills. Access to your institutions is read only. Lumen cannot move money, pay bills, make trades, or open or close accounts.
How it works

You ask: Show the total for each restaurant. Claude answers: Three restaurants account for the $310: Oak & Olive $128, Green Bowl $96 and Corner Café $86. You ask: What is a year at $25 a week compared with twelve months at $310 a month? Claude answers: $25 for 52 weeks is $1,300. Twelve months at $310 is $3,720, a difference of $2,420. These are two assumed spending amounts. You ask: Using the same $25 a week, compare the first three complete weeks of this month. Claude answers: Those three weeks total $250: $82, $94 and $74. Your $25 weekly amount totals $75 across three weeks, so recorded spending was $175 higher.Financial account access is read-only and cannot move money. Your bank password is never shared with Lumen.

Your first connection is free. More than one needs a subscription.

Claude, ChatGPT and the other apps below. Some apps limit connectors by plan or workspace settings.

It is the same for everyone. You sign in to Lumen when your AI app asks, so you never paste a password or key into a chat.

Choose your app for setup instructions. Don’t see yours? Select “Another AI app.”
What you approve
When you connect, Lumen shows the permissions your AI app is asking for, and you approve them. You can revoke any app under Connected AI apps on your profile, and it loses access on its next request.
What you can grant
- Read your account balances, transactions, and financial data
- Edit your own categories, subcategories and labels, and rules that rename merchants or mark transfers, income and recurring payments
- Refresh your connected institutions on request
- Cannot move funds or change your accounts
If something isn’t working
- Your AI says to connect a bank
- Lumen has no connected institution for your account yet. Connect one from Accounts, then ask again.
- An institution shows an error or asks you to sign in again
- The institution needs you to sign in again, often after a password change or a new security step. Repair it from Accounts. Your AI app cannot repair a connection for you.
- Your AI says a subscription is needed, or that the free plan covers one connection
- The free plan includes one connection. Subscribe, or remove the extra connections, from Subscription.
- Your AI asks you to accept updated terms
- We have updated our Terms of Service. Sign in to Lumen, review and accept them, then ask again.
- Your AI asks you to reconnect Lumen to grant a permission
- Your AI app connected without that permission. Remove Lumen in the app's connector settings, add it again, and approve the permission when asked.
- Lumen does not appear in your conversation
- Most AI apps let you turn connectors on for each conversation. Check that Lumen is enabled in the chat's tools or connectors menu.
- An answer is empty or looks incomplete
- Ask your AI which accounts and dates it used, and ask it to refresh your connected institutions. Some institutions share limited history, and investment holdings appear only when the connection includes investment access.
Your data
Lumen fetches balances and transactions live from your institutions each time your AI asks, and does not store them. Your AI app receives what it requests, and its own privacy policy also applies.
